Setting up a network

Research networks provide support for people engaged in interdisciplinary, collaborative health sciences research into a particular topic working in collaboration with staff in NHS trusts, council and third sector organisations to develop real world, relevant research. IHS networks aim to:

  • Advance knowledge of health and healthcare practice through applied research

  • Involve multidisciplinary approaches to research exploiting new and existing opportunities for research

  • Build on existing research strengths in Greater Manchester and/or develop new areas of research

  • Run workshops, seminars other activities for members

  • Have clear outcomes, measures and goals

Addictions Research Network

This is the newest interdisciplinary IHS research network which focuses on addictions and addictive behaviour.
Leading researchers from across the University are working with colleagues from the social care, voluntary sector and NHS staff in Greater Manchester. The launch workshop was held in October 2010. These topics are ideal for a network as they span many different areas of work, from medicine to social policy.

To get involved in the network contact the IHS co-ordinator: rebecca.l.jones@manchester.ac.uk
