Manchester Interdisciplinary Collaboration for Research on Ageing - Seedcorn Funding 2011
Call for applications - deadline Sat 31st December 2011
The aim of MICRA seedcorn funding is to further interdisciplinary ageing related research within the University of Manchester. Applications must meet the following essential criteria:

The proposed research must be explicitly related to ageing

The proposed research must be interdisciplinary (for example, crossing the funding domains of two or more research councils)

The proposed research must lead to at least one specific outcome, such as a research proposal for a research council or a working paper.

The award must be held by a University of Manchester member of staff (but can be used to fund collaborations with other institutions); awarded funds must be spent by the end of July 2012.

A maximum of £6K can be awarded per application

MICRA/ cities award : one project will be jointly funded by MICRA and cities@manchester (www.cities.manchester.ac.uk ) and must fall within the category ‘Ageing and Cities’.

MICRA/ Wellcome award: one project is eligible for £6,000 matched funding from The Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility Manchester (WTCRF) with a further £6,000 of ‘like funding’ through the use of facilities and services at WTCRF (www.wtcrf.nhs.uk)
Application process:

Applicants are required to submit a written proposal for their research totalling no more than two sides of A4; please state if you wish to be considered for the MICRA/ cities award or MICRA/Wellcome CRF award.

The proposal should state how the research meets the above essential criteria (items 1 to 4).

The deadline for applications is Friday 30 December 2011; submissions should be made via email to micra@manchester.ac.uk (please do not send to cities@manchester or The Wellcome Trust CRF).
